About Me

Hello and welcome to my website. I’m a BACP accredited Counsellor with over 20 years experience working with adults.  I’m and ‘Integrative Counsellor’; I offer counselling, psychotherapy and I’m also a qualified EMDR practitioner and offer Counselling Supervison to student counsellors. I’ll work with you to explore your difficulties; the origins, symptoms and the effect this has on your life. In the sessions; you  find a safe space to talk and we’ll look at ways for you to talk about your distress and move forward with relief.

For many years I was a practitioner in GP’s practices in Newcastle working with a range of different problems such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and work-related stress.  With almost 10 years EMDR experience, I work with trauma symptoms; panic attacks, childhood abuse, PTSD and other trauma-based difficulties.  I frequently work with clients who have suffered sexual abuse, grief and loss, bullying in the workplace and physical distress from a variety of sources. After an initial assessment; I’ll tailor the therapy to best suit your needs and we’ll discuss all of the treatment options available to you.

20 Years ago, I studied imagery and metaphor and how to write stories for clients.  For a while, I continued writing stories for clients and the stories resonated with clients who found hope for the future. Now, I use Therapeutic and Reflective Writing with clients in my work.  Some of the exercises work particularly well with those who struggle to articulate their problem in words. I also write in various forms for my own pleasure. If you prefer the outdoors; we can do ‘Walking the Talking’; a recognised therapeutic way of walking with your therapist while talking about your problem out in the open, enjoying the fresh air and without the constraints of being in a office environment (Northern weather permitting.)
